I am not a morning coffee drinker. Actually I am not a morning anything. If I can sleep until noon I will. When I do drink my single cup coffee it’s usually late at night to help warm me up. For some reason I am almost always cold. I am not a chocolate person so I do not grab a mug of hot chocolate and before you ask I prefer my tea cold.
In my dark kitchen lies my Keurig. It is probably one of my most favorite countertop kitchen appliances that I own. My Keurig brews up a single serve cup of coffee in less than a minute (which is great when I’m running late). Gevalia recently came out with there new 2 step cafe-style K-Cups and I could not be more excited. (Actually I could because there’s currently a coupon for 1.50 off any 1 box of Gevalia K-Cups which makes for a great deal)
You simply place your K-cup in the holder and pour the packet into your cup. After you hit brew your cup will be filled with magical frothy cappuccino.
Every once in awhile I like to indulge. Instead of my usual late night coffee I will go to one of the local specialty coffee shops in town and buy a cappuccino. Cappuccino is my weakness. It might be because it’s loaded with sugary goodness but there’s just something about it that immediately brings a smile to my face. If I am not indulging with cappuccino, I am probably enjoying a mug cake. For those of you who don’t know, a mug cake is simply the combination of an angel food cake mix with any flavor normal cake mix made in the microwave. I personally like making the lemon. But back to cappuccino… The other day I thought to myself “what if I could combine my two favorite indulgences?” Would I be crazy to think I could do such a thing?
Guess what! I did it and it was amazing! Angel food cake is one of my favorites by far. I love topping it with a bowl full of strawberries. With the new addition of cappuccino in the mix… WOW! I was surprised how well the flavor of the Gevalia Cappuccino came through. It was like I was actually drinking the gourmet coffee without having to wait for it to be cool enough to drink.
- 1 (16oz) box angel food cake mix
- 1 (8oz.) cup brewed Gevalia Cappuccino, cooled
- 1/4 cup water
- Place oven rack in lowest position and remove others. Preheat oven to 350°F (325° F for dark and nonstick). DO NOT GREASE PAN. In a large bowl mix on low speed cake mix, cappuccino, and water for 30 seconds. Continue mixing on medium speed for 1 minute. Pour into ungreased angel food pan. Bake for approximately 40 minutes or until the top is very dry (not sticky). Remove from oven and place upside down onto a glass bottle until completely cool. Run a knife down the sides of the cake pan and remove. Cut with a serrated knife and enjoy!
