These hawaiian Turkey burgers will be a hit at your next barbecue.
As you all know, or maybe you don’t know, I don’t consume red meat. I stopped eating all red meat the first of the new year. Since then my life has been filled with so much poultry and fish. I’m always looking for new ways to enjoy to spice up my go-to recipes. Since the weather has warmed up we have been grilling every chance we get. My boyfriend loves grilling and I don’t mind taking a break from the hot oven and stove every once in awhile.
I called the turkey burgers Hawaiian because the ground turkey is combined with crushed pineapple, yum! The addition of the red onion and the spicy honey Kraft barbecue sauce help too 🙂 Together the ingredients make a really “sweet” burger. I’m going to tell you a little secret and you can’t tell anyone, promise? I’ve had red onions a million times but this was my first time actually buying one myself. Shocked? You should be!
Just imagine the burger without the beautiful red onion. I think it would have looked really boring and unattractive. Almost as unattractive as the smell of onion lingering on your skin. Please tell me you know what I’m talking about… After making the burgers and hanging around with them for about an hour taking pictures I took a shower. Let’s just say the second I stepped under the warm water my bathroom smelled of onions. Kind of gross, right? It’s weird because that usually only happens when I’m cooking onions. These onions are clearly raw.
Enough of the onion talk. Let’s get back to the burgers! These turkey burgers are to die for! When you take a bite you get the crunch from the onion and the lettuce. The flavors of the turkey, pineapple, spicy honey Kraft bbq sauce, and the natural Kraft pepper jack cheese make your tastebuds dance! I ended up buying the Kraft barbecue sauce and Kraft pepper jack cheese at my local Walmart when I went there to buy milk. Turns out I forgot to buy the milk. Happens every time, right #saycheeseburger #collectivebias
I picked up the combo pack of cheeses just incase someone wanted sharp cheddar but I prefer the pepper jack.
