Pumpkin Honey Bun Cake

Autumn is officially here! The leaves are turning and the air is getting crisp. I don’t know about you but autumn is my favorite season. It’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. I feel like my energy level raises this time of year also. Autumn is too beautiful to sleep through. Since my boyfriend and I moved into a house by the lake we now have beautiful autumn leaves surrounding us. I’ll be sharing pictures once more trees start to turn.

This weekend I’m going to my hometown to run a glow-in-the-dark 5k. Have you ever ran one? I’m really excited to break in my new running shoes. After eating this honey bun cake you’ll need to run a 5k too. If you say you’ve never had a honey bun you’d be lying. This recipe takes a honey bun to a whole new level. It’s like a big pan of heaven. Your house will smell wonderful for days (you’re welcome).

Pumpkin Honey Bun Cake

  1. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  2. 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  3. 1 tsp. cinnamon
  4. 1 box Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake mix
  5. 6 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese
  6. 3 tbs. milk
  7. 2 eggs
  8. 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  9. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  10. 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
  11. 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  1. 1 cup powdered sugar
  2. 3 tbs. milk
  3. 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  4. 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13 x 9 inch pan and set aside. In a small bowl combine brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon; set aside. In a large bow,l with a mixer combine cake mix, cream cheese, milk, eggs, vegetable oil, sugar, pumpkin, and vanilla extract. Once combined pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Swirl half of the brown sugar mixture into the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and then sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar mixture over the cake. Place in the oven and bake for approximately 40 minutes. While the cake is baking we need to make the glaze. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and pumpkin spice in a small bowl. Once the cake is done remove from oven and immediately spread the glaze evenly atop the cake. Let cool and enjoy!

    I’ve made this for a church get-together. Everyone loved it! It’s wonderfully moist and delicious. An absolute keeper! Thanks for the recipe.
