This recipe is super simple and you only need a handful of ingredients to make this amazingness happen. It’s basically love in a cup. I think we all deserve love this time of year. Even those of us who don’t have a significant other. Since I’m one of those, I’ll be sure to whip one of these up on Valentine’s Day.

Everyone’s always been on this red velvet bandwagon. To be completely honest I’ve only had red velvet once or twice in my life. I know, I’m pretty crazy. A food blogger who isn’t obsessed with red velvet is rare. I am obsessed with the color. I think it could make anything appetizing.

Red used to be my favorite color until I started buying everything red. Shoes, shirts, my Kitchenaid mixer, blankets, rugs, pillows, iPods. Seriously anything that could be red, I bought. It didn’t bother me at first but one day I woke up and decided that I hated red.

I’m slowly letting it back into my life. In the mean time I’ve been pretty obsessed with the color mint blue. I’m trying not to let it take over my house but I did paint the kitchen door in my old house that color. I now rent a townhouse, but I’m sure I’d have something painted that color if I could.

I wanted this recipe to be simple. Sometimes I get a little wild with ingredients so I wanted to make sure everything was easily found at the grocery store. In this case I went to Walmart and found all of my ingredients. The M&M’s® Red Velvet variety and the M&M’s® Milk Chocolate were located in the seasonal candy isle. The M&M’s® Milk Chocolate were also found in our candy isle. The ice cream was in the freezer section. The chocolate syrup was also found in the freezer section on the end cap.

The butter flavored extract worried me a little. I didn’t know if would be easy to find BUT if you go to your baking isle it should be there right next to the vanilla extract.

This recipe is a total stress reliever. Blending things makes me super happy. PLUS you get to smash a bunch of M&M’s®. You can do this two ways. Place them into a zipper lock baggie and whack with a rolling pin OR you can just squash them with the back of a spoon. Personally I liked hitting them with the rolling pin better.

Okay, this is happening in my house as soon as possible. This is so cute. I bet it tastes amazing.

I love red, my basement is painted red. Our house has red brick, as does our fireplace. But I totally get being sick of colours after obsessing over them for a while. I was like that with blue. Everything was blue when I moved out of the house. Then I hated blue for about 20 years, Now I am digging turquoise like crazy.

I’m a pink girl. Light, pastel pink. It’s been my thing since I was a kid. I still wear a piece of pink every day, even if it’s just socks, or a bra. Ha. So weird. I’m 45 and it’s still a habit I’ve never outgrown. Weird right.

Your snow tradition makes me laugh. I prefer hot cocoa to ice cream when it snows, personally. 🙂 These do look delicious though. I’ll have to keep them in mind for after the ground thaw out a big (I’ll hoard a bag of the m+ms)

While we are used to getting a lot of snow here in NY I’m a total baby and always barricade myself inside the house until it’s over with. I’m always scared of driving off the road while it’s snowing…lol. However, I will totally dig into some ice cream while it’s freezing outside. This homemade ice cream treat looks amazing!
